Rwanda’s Government Shut Down 5000 Churches Over Health Safety

Post created on 11:58 am

Rwanda President, Paul Kagame has shut down over 5000 churches for failure to comply with safety and health regulations.

The move, which is highly criticized by groups, has seen over 5,600 churches clamped down due to poor soundproofing, including 100 cave churches.

The East African country is mostly populated by Christians, more of who are Catholics and pentecostals.

It comes when critics are now questioning the transactional nature of worship places as they have now become means of milking the poor rather than paying attention to the safety of worshippers.
