Rivers State Commandos: Wike vs. Fubara Fury Thickens
Post created on 2:44 pm
Immediate past Governor of Rivers State and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, seems displeased with the letter his successor, Governor Siminalayi Fubara, sent to the State House of Assembly, ascribing it as useless.
Earlier, Fubara had written a letter through the SSG, Tammy Danagogo, requesting a meeting with the lawmakers in order to foster peace and present the 2025 budget after the order given by the Supreme Court reinstating Martins Amaewhule as speaker.
This decision did not sit well with Wike, as he expressed his thoughts to newsmen in Abuja, stating that the lawmakers and Speaker are not under the control of Fubara and should therefore be treated with respect.
Standing by his words, Wike maintained that the best way to achieve peace is for Fubura to do the right thing, and one of those things is placing a direct call to Amaewhule and his team for a meeting instead of writing a public letter.
However, on the part of Fubura, he has agreed to comply with orders from the court and instructed the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission to organize a fresh election, scheduled for August 9, 2025.
