Some concerned residents in Port Harcourt, the River States capital have raised the alarm of supermarkets selling expired products which might cause more health issues to people in the present harsh economy.

While calling on the Federal Competition Consumer Protection Commission, FCCPC, to look into the case with all urgency to checkmate these stores and supermarkets who avoid losses at the expense of people’s lives.

With various complaints, the FCCPC however assured that raids would be carried out and any vendor found wanting would be slammed N10 to N100 million as a fine.

Giving the assurance to residents of Port Harcourt, the Assistant Director for the South-South zone, Emeka Anyanwu said the commission seriously frowns at such acts, therefore surveillance would be carried out and any business selling expired goods would be closed instantly.
