The Republic of Benin has closed the Niger River crossing border since the military took over in Naimey as prices of goods are now on the high side.

Attributing Niger’s end as wickedness, Benin has been unable to move goods from the border even after the sanctions placed on Niger have been lifted by ECOWAS.

Benin reopened the border which coincidentally fell between the time ECOWAS lifted its sanctions against Niger.

However, things remain the same at Niger’s border end, as President Patrice Talon said their neighbouring country is treating the Beninese as enemies.

According to a source close to the government, the river crossing to Niger has finally been closed as goods transported across the Niger River are now prohibited.
