UPDATE: Police kill man in Asaba, youths protest

Youths in Asaba took to the streets protesting the death of a young man allegedly shot by a police officer because of N100 tip.

The incident reportedly took place in front of Federal Medical Centre Asaba where the deceased Onyeka Ibe, a phone seller in Ogbogonogo market was shot on the head. He was declared dead in FMC.

The diseased,who is in his early forties,reportedly own three shops at the Obogonogo market and was  driving his Glk wagon car when the incident happened following an altercation with an officer.

Protesters today wheeled the body of the disease through the streets of asaba to the police command headquarters and the government house demanding for justice

The Spokesperson of the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe in a statement disclosed that the investigation has commenced and the said police officer has been detained.

“The Police inspector has been identified, arrested, paraded, and detained. The Command assures members of the public and the deceased family of justice. Investigation has commenced, and he will be arraigned in court for prosecution”
