The Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities in Delta state, JONAPED, has called on the state government to domesticate the disability law and create a commission for persons with disabilities to make them become independent from the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

Ernest Igbuzor, the State Chairman-Elect of the Association, made the call during a protest by members from the 25 local government areas of the state at the Chike Edozien Secretariat.

Speaking with CROWN FM,Igbuzor insisted that the Ministry had crossed the line by dictating the rules and regulations for members of the association.

The chairman of JONAPED Okpe Local Government Area, Emmanuel Jackson, speaking on behalf of other chairmen accused the Ministry of restricting Ernest Igbuzor from carrying out his duties as the Head of the association.

Meanwhile, Flora Alatan Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, who chose to speak off the mic, regarded the issues of the association as an internal issue and insisted that they would be treated as such.
