Former governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, has promised to build an Islamic University in President Muhammadu Buhari’s hometown of Daura in Katsina State.

The university, according to Okorocha, would offer free education with all modern state-of-the-act facilities.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) senator said the university would be built through the Rochas Okorocha Foundation.

Okorocha is a serving senator in the National Assembly and represents the people Imo West senatorial district.

He made the promise at an event organized by ‘Compare and Contrast Youths Initiatives’ in Daura Katsina State on Saturday.

Emir of Daura, Umar Faruk, had recently conferred the traditional title of Maga Alherin Kasar Hausa on Senator Okorocha.

The former governor represented Isa Halidu said the proposed university will be tuition free as well with free feeding.

“Because the Emir of Daura made me a traditional titleholder, I am going to give a gift, perhaps, that would never be forgotten.

“I will build an Islamic university with modern facilities under Rochas Okorocha Foundation and to be commissioned by myself in Daura town,” he said.

Okorocha added that the gesture is in appreciation of the emirate and Katsina State for their support for him.
