Nothing Wrong With The Book – Author of Controversial Children’s Text

Mrs. Udoka Mary Queen, the mother of a 5-year-old, was concerned about a passage from the child’s textbook that says a man burned a dog with a hot iron because it could not guard meat and was threatened to bring down the post. The author of the book has responded.
The author, Ayengbe Ebhohimen, has responded following various backlash, stating that there was nothing wrong with the context, as children of such ages (3-5) are only learning how to read and can’t understand moral lessons.
“There is nothing wrong with what I wrote. If anybody is not satisfied with what I wrote, it is a matter of differences in opinion. That I have written something that is not in line with your own opinion does not make it wrong.”
“What Udoka was saying is that the story has no moral lesson, and that the children have nothing to learn from it. Unfortunately, that is not the purpose of the story for the children. They are between the ages of 3 and 5, and at that age, they are not supposed to talk about moral lessons because they cannot even read,” he said.
The author accused people of being gullible, allowing empathy to cloud their judgment; however, he didn’t oppose a review of his work. Calling on the government to ban a book that has been used for years was extreme.
