The Nigerian Customs Service has made it known that the commencement of food distribution will start again after all modalities have been put in place by the Federal Government.

NCS put an end to the distribution of seized food items following the stampede that led to the death of over seven persons in Lagos state when hoodlums hijacked the process.

It will be recalled that the federal government had given an order to the Nigerian Customs Service to make the sale of seized food items for Nigerians to easily access and a bag of 25kg of rice was sold for 10,000 naira.

To help reduce the rate of food prices skyrocketing in the market the NCS in Oyo/ Osun Command said there will be another round of seized food distribution after the government has put all necessary things in place to avert casualties of citizens during the distribution process.

The Area Controller of Ibadan Oyo/Osun Command, Ben Oramalugo in his words said “Once the necessary modalities are in place, the distribution of seized rice will begin. We will provide regular updates to the public on the progress of the distribution.”
