The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has officially acknowledged the withdrawal of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger Republic from the bloc in a statement released.
The Commission, however, promised not to cut ties with the three countries concerning trade collaboration and also to enable citizens of Burkina Faso, Mali, and Niger to use their identity cards and passports bearing the ECOWAS logo until further instructions are given.
It further noted that there will be free trade flows and citizens will retain their rights to visa-free movement and residence within the ECOWAS territories until a new framework by the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government is established.
