It’s a Sign Of Weakness If Ekweremadu Serve Jail In UK – Adamu Garba

Adamu Garba of the All Progressive Congress has claimed that Senator Ike Ekweremadu serving a jail term in a foreign country is because of the weakness of the Nigerian system and what he described as “stenches of colonialism”.

Garba questioned why a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria would be subjected to serve a jail term in a foreign country, wondering if the US, UK or any other European country would allow such.

His statement is contained in a tweet posted on his verified handle.

Recall that Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice and a doctor were found guilty of human organ trafficking by a court in the UK.

Although they are yet to be sentenced by the court, they are being kept in custody pending the announcement of their sentences.

His tweet read “If not for the weakness of our system and stenches of colonialism, how can a Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Ike Ekweremadu serve a jail term in the foreign land?

“Would America, the UK or any European country allow that?

”No matter the offence, he deserves to be repatriated back to Nigeria, face Nigeria court and be sanctioned by the Nigeria law.

”I see this as an assault on our sovereignty, laws and the status of our statehood in the international sphere.”
