ICPC Arrests El-Rufai After Release by EFCC

On Wednesday night, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission released former governor of Kaduna State, Malam Nasir El-Rufai, but he was immediately arrested by operatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission and Other Related Offences Commission.

A statement from the ICPC Head of Media and Public Communications, Mr. J. Okor Odey, confirmed that El-Rufai was with the commission as of the close of work on February 18, 2026.

El-Rufai had arrived at the EFCC headquarters in Abuja on Monday for questioning over the alleged unlawful interception of the phone communications of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, and the reopened investigation into the disappearance of Abubakar Idris in 2019, popularly known as Dadiyata.
