I Did Not Regret My Actions — Nwaebonyi Clarifies Insult on Ezekwesili

On Tuesday, at the committee reviewing claims by Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan alleging sexual harassment by the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, a heated argument ensued between former Minister Obi Ezekwesili and Senator Onyekachi Nwaebonyi.
The confrontation led to an exchange of swear words between both, as Senator Nwaebonyi referred to Ezekwesili as an insult to womanhood and a hooligan, after Ezekwesili allegedly told him to shut up and called him the same name.
However, appearing on Channels TV on Tuesday night, the senator representing Ebonyi North Senatorial District defended his actions, stating that he was provoked by Ezekwesili first and has no regret for his actions towards a grandmother who can insult a sitting lawmaker.
He said that when the former Minister was asked to take an oath as a witness, she refused, and he, being willing to give evidence, was instead shut down by Ezekwesili, who called him a hooligan.
Nwaebonyi further acknowledged his respect for Ezekwesili as a woman, but stated that she was wrong to address him in such a manner.
