Herders have injured two persons while trying to invade the Yelewata community in Benue State, a few months after causing a deadly attack in the town.

The forced entry that was intercepted by security forces on the ground took place on Sunday afternoon as the herders were openly grazing towards the town. Soldiers fired a warning shot, and the herders retaliated, retreating back.

According to a local leader, two persons were injured, but a prompt response from the Benue State Emergency Management Agency rushed the victims to Makurdi for medical attention.

The community leader further pointed out that the incident occurred barely four days after the state government supplied improved agricultural inputs to farmers in the area as part of efforts to enhance food production during the planting season.
