Gunmen Kidnap Sapele LG Chairman

The Chairman of Sapele Local Government, Chief Bright Abeke, has been abducted by gunmen at a hotel on Owumi Road around 7 PM on Friday.

The gunmen, about 15 in number, stormed the area in a Range Rover SUV and two other vehicles, shooting and scaring residents and guests at the hotel.

Eyewitness reports indicate that the gunmen went straight for their target, whisking him away. However, one vigilant man identified as Ufouma was shot and rushed to the hospital.

Police say efforts are being put in place to rescue the LG chairman, as exit and entry points in Sapele are being tightened.
