Post created on 10:23 am

It is no news that food is being hijacked from trucks transporting food to different parts of the country and looting of warehouses by citizens to help cushion the skyrocketing prices in markets.

It will be recalled that in Abuja and Niger suspected hoodlums have looted trucks and warehouses where grains and other items were stored.

This has made the National President of the Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, Yusuf Othman, said with the recent happenings truck drivers will be forced to withdraw their services.

Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, Othman was quoted saying the attacks by these hoodlums on their various members are affecting them since their insurance does not cover such incidents.

He, therefore appealed to the public to desist from such acts on their trucks because if the situation continues, truck drivers will have no other option but to stop the transportation of food across the country which would lead to more scarcity.
