The increment of pump prices that recently jumped from N879 to 1,030 in Abuja and N998 in Lagos has increased the worries of Nigerians as to what the future holds for all, and the NLC is calling on the Federal Government to say where they are sailing the country to.

Reacting to the outburst, the Federal Government distanced through the Minister of Information and National Orientation, insisted that the NNPCL was solely involved as market conditions were not favorable to them due to the fighting in the Middle East and other factors.

Mohammed Idris revealed that NNPCL’s decision to fix the price was not influenced by the government but by the Petroleum Industry Act, PIA.

Appealing to Nigerians, Idris further said that with the removal of the subsidy, NNPCL has been paying for some costs, which has brought loss and had to stop, but with an assurance that this was only a trying time and petrol prices would decrease soon.
