ESN Militant Killed by Soldiers in Imo

The Nigerian Army has stormed the shrine of the Eastern Security Network, in Orlu, Imo State, gunning down some of the ESN members and destroying the shrine.

Reports have it that the army suffered two casualties during the operation conducted in two different operations.

Since 2021 Orlu has been under unrest when the military crushed the ESN a paramilitary organisation of the Indigenous People of Biafra, a pro-Biafra separatist movement.

The group was founded by the leader of IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu, a political activist and advocate of the contemporary Biafran independence movement.

IPOB had been named a terrorist organisation by the Nigerian government in 2017 under the Nigerian Terrorism Act.
