Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has charged judges across the state to dispense justice without fear or favor, reiterating his administration’s support for judicial independence, improved welfare, and speedy trial processes.
Governor Oborevwori gave the charge on Tuesday at Government House, Asaba, when he received state judges led by the Chief Judge, Justice Theresa Diai, as part of activities commemorating the 2026/2027 Legal Year.
Urging the bench to remain impartial and resolute, Oborevwori emphasized that no individual is above the law and directed judicial officers to strictly apply the law regardless of government or private interests.
The governor specifically called on judges to expedite cases involving kidnapping, armed robbery, and murder, noting that decisive judicial action is fundamental to sustaining peace and public safety across Delta State.
Addressing welfare concerns, Oborevwori disclosed that the state government is constructing 10 new residential quarters for judges—five in Warri and five in Asaba—with completion targeted for the end of the first quarter of 2027.
