Delta State: Gas Plant explodes In Effurun

A popular cooking gas plant situated along the Effurun/Sapele Road in Effurun, Delta State suffered explosion on Monday night.
The gas station identified as NELMIC Gas Plant which is located opposite the Effurun Post Office was said to have gone aflame about 10:30pm.
The remote cause of the explosion is yet-to-be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
It was gathered that a thunderous sound had heralded the fire explosion which has completely destroyed the gas plant.
Sources told news men that the raging fire was fast spreading to residential buildings and a popular Redeemed Church in the area.
It was further gathered that scores of persons were injured during the incident.
DSP Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer confirmed the incident to Channels Television on Tuesday in a telephone conversation.
