The Delta State Contributory Health Commission, DSCHC, has flagged off the Tertiary Institution Social Health Insurance Programme, TlSHlP, at the University of Delta, Agbor on the main campus to provide comprehensive healthcare services to students both within and outside the school premises.

The Director General and Chief Executive Officer of DSCHC, Isaac Akpoveta, while addressing students at the event, said the initiative is aimed at underscoring the State Government’s commitment to ensure that every resident has access to quality healthcare services without experiencing financial hazards of expensive healthcare as same gesture was carried out at the Dennis Osadebey University, Anwai last week.

Akpoveta noted that the programme which is in recognition of the pivotal role tertiary institutions play in shaping the future of our society, will meet the medical needs of students whether during school hours or during break. Urging all stakeholders to continue to support in building a healthier and more prosperous environment where healthcare remains accessible and affordable for all residents of the State.

The Vice Chancellor of UNIDEL, Stella Chiemeke, who thanked the commission for introducing the scheme to the institution, encouraged the students to key into the programme and feel free to visit the hospitals with the registered card whenever they have any health challenge as all expenses have been taken care of from the get go.
