A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has nullified the primary election that upheld Asue Ighodalo as the Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Edo State.

Delivery the judgement, Justice Inyang Ekwo nullified Ighodalo’s candidacy because 378 members of the party were excluded from participating in the February 22, 2024, primary election in the state.

Justice Ekwo said the primary election conducted at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, went against the provisions of the 2022 electoral act and guidelines of the PDP.

The judgment came after a petition was filed by Kelvin Mohammed and other delegates who were angry with the process.
