Human rights activists are beginning to call on the Senate to follow the court order given on Friday that suspended Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, Kogi Central Senator, be reinstated.
The case presided over by Justice Binta Nyako at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday, found Senator Natasha guilty of contempt of court as she went against an order by publishing a satirical apology to Senate President Godswill Akpabio on her Facebook page.
The judgment held that a public apology in two national dailies, including Natasha’s Facebook page, be done within seven days and a fine of 5 million naira be paid for contempt.
In regard to Senate President Akpabio, Justice Nyako refused to issue any judgment in his favor, even though her decision was based on the contempt action that was filed by Akpabio.
