Councillor Dies While Playing Football in Ughelli

A Councillor in Ughelli representing the people of Evwreni has joined the list of serving councilors in Delta State who have died in office within the past nine months.

Obukoadata Aghoghofia, representing the people of Ward 8 in Ughelli LGA, slumped in the Evwreni community while playing football.

The death of Aghoghofia was confirmed by the chairman of Ughelli North LGA, Jaro Egbo, in a Facebook post, with many sending consolation messages to the late councilor’s family.

On April 23, 2025, a councilor, Friday Ohwoevworuemu, from Uwheru Ward 16 in the same LGA, died after a brief illness.
