Army Clarifies Sojaboi Dismissal

Following the trending video of ex-Lance Corporal Rotimi Olamilekan, popularly known as Soja Boi, who claimed that his uniforms and protective equipment were personally funded, the Nigerian Army has disputed these claims.
In a statement on Tuesday, Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Appolonia Anele, stated that all necessary kits for military personnel are adequately provided and that a structured salary system is in place which covers uniforms and other allowances.
However, despite the fact that all logistics are meant for troops, Anele disclosed that it is at the personal discretion of some soldiers to supplement what was given to them, as this only acts voluntarily and not as a systematic failure.
Furthermore, the Army stated that Soja Boi was dismissed over disciplinary breaches, including violations of social media policy, and not for expressing his views.
