Armed Robber Neutralized By Ekpan Police

A suspected armed robber and his gang terrorizing, robbing and kidnapping residents in Uvwie and its environs have been caught and killed by the patrol team of the Ekpan police division.

According to a police source, the team had gone on a patrol along Army Barracks Link Road, off Refinery Road in Ekpan, when a tricycle with three passengers was stopped but the suspects immediately took to their heels.

One of the suspects was caught who confessed that the others on the run were his gang members and they laid siege to rob and sometimes kidnap their victims.

The source said a cut to size double barrel gun with live cartridges was inside a black bag recovered from the suspect who later took officials to the gang’s hideout along NNPC Link Road.

In an attempt to escape, the suspect jumped into the river but was brought out by the police and later confirmed dead by the Ekpan General Hospital, when taken in for medication.
