Nine political parties operating under the Coalition for Democracy have rallied behind the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing Thursday’s Federal High Court ruling as a systematic effort to stifle opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The court judgment dissolved the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the ADC and invalidated the party’s presidential primary that produced former Vice President Atiku Abubakar as its 2027 flag bearer.

In a joint statement issued on Friday and signed by Salihu Moh. Lukman on behalf of the coalition, the group condemned the verdict as a dangerous escalation aimed at narrowing Nigeria’s democratic space.

“What is happening to the ADC today can happen to every opposition party tomorrow,” the statement warned. “No political party should be allowed to achieve through institutional manipulation what it fears it cannot achieve through the votes of Nigerians.”

The Coalition for Democracy—established following the G100 Opposition Summit in Abuja on August 31, 2026—comprises nine member parties: ADC, Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA), National Rescue Movement (NRM), Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Social Democratic Party (SDP), and Youth Progressives Party (YPP).
