The Delta State Executive Council (EXCO) has approved the reconstruction and comprehensive rehabilitation of major road networks across the state, including the first phase of the Warri Ring Road project and major asphalt overlays in the Warri and Uvwie metropolis
The approvals were finalized during the State Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori at Government House in Asaba.
Briefing State House correspondents after the meeting, the Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu, alongside the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Festus Ahon, outlined the scope of the infrastructural interventions.
Under the approved projects, Phase 1 of the Warri Ring Road will cover the corridor from First Marine Gate to Port Gate, while the connecting axis from Old Port Gate to the NPA Expressway will undergo full rehabilitation.
The Council also approved major asphalt overlay projects along heavily traveled corridors in the state, including Airport Road, Jakpa Road, and Refinery Road. Aniagwu highlighted that the intervention on Refinery Road was prioritized due to severe pavement deterioration causing traffic congestion for motorists and residents.
Additional infrastructure approvals include the reconstruction and dualization of the Ugbolu-Illah Road in Delta North, as well as the construction of A.I. Mofo Street in Otor-Udu, Udu Local Government Area, following a direct directive from Governor Oborevwori to assess and execute the community project.
