Post created on 3:32 pm

17 days after a Nigerian Air Force ATR-42 aircraft crashed in Igbokoda, Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State, local residents continue to lament a persistent foul odour, suspected water contamination, and severe disruptions to their fishing livelihoods.
The military aircraft crash resulted in the death of at least 25 personnel on board, prompting ongoing recovery operations by military teams to retrieve the wreckage and human remains.
Community members reported that the decomposing remains and wreckage have paralyzed social and economic life in the riverine community, urging both the Federal Government and the Ondo State Government to accelerate environmental remediation and site decontamination.
Although the Ondo State Government stated that preliminary clean-up and environmental safety measures had commenced, residents maintained that fumigation exercises have yet to reach affected waterways, raising public health concerns over drinking water safety and aquatic life.
