Atiku Names Ibrahim-Imam, El-Rufai to Lead 2027 Campaign Council

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has appointed Kashim Ibrahim-Imam as Chairman of his 2027 National Campaign Council, with former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai named Deputy Chairman.

​The campaign appointments were announced in an official statement issued on Friday by Atiku’s Senior Special Assistant on Public Communication and Campaign Director of Strategic Communications, Phrank Shaibu.

​Under the newly unveiled leadership structure, Senator Austin Akobundu will serve as Director-General and Campaign Manager. Veteran journalist and publisher Dele Momodu has been appointed Deputy Director-General overseeing the Media and Communications Directorate.

​Atiku outlined that the operational framework consists of a lean campaign structure divided into six specialized directorates and 30 directors to ensure strict accountability, streamlined decision-making, and field coordination ahead of the 2027 general elections.

​”The size and character of the Council deliberately reflect the mood of the nation and the severe economic realities confronting millions of Nigerians,” Atiku stated. “At a time when families are being compelled to do more with less, the campaign must demonstrate the same discipline, prudence, and sensitivity it seeks to bring to government.”
