APC’s Okolosi Ator Wins Udu Constituency By-Election in Landslide Victory

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Okolosi Ator of the All Progressives Congress (APC) the winner of the Udu Constituency House of Assembly by-election held in Delta State on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Announcing the official election results at the central collation center in Otor-Udu Town Hall, the Returning Officer confirmed that Ator secured a landslide victory, polling 8,724 votes. His closest rival, Orugbo George Biatere of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), scored 212 votes, while the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) candidate secured 33 votes.

The election results give the ruling APC a decisive winning margin of 8,510 votes over the PDP.

The legislative seat was officially declared vacant by the Delta State House of Assembly on June 30, following the formal defection of the former representative, Mr. Collins Ogbetama, from the APC to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC). The Udu poll formed part of a series of targeted state and federal legislative by-elections conducted simultaneously by INEC across Delta, Gombe, Bauchi, and Kano states.

Speaking to journalists shortly after the official declaration, the lawmaker-elect, Okolosi Ator, accompanied by the Executive Chairman of Udu Local Government Council, Hon. Vincent Oyibode, expressed gratitude to APC leaders, elders, and constituents for their overwhelming support. Ator commended the administrative leadership of Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and pledged to deliver effective, accountable representation to the people of Udu Constituency.
