The former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, who was convicted on 16 counts of charges related to money laundering of over N33.8 billion following a petition by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, has been moved to Kuje Correctional Center.

Mamman was sentenced to a 75-year jail term on May 13, even while not present in court. However, on Tuesday, the EFCC presented him in court after he fled Abuja to Kaduna by taxi.

Justice James Omotosho of the Federal High Court in Abuja read out his charges to him and ordered his immediate conviction to Kuje Correctional Center over his illicit acquisition of multi-million naira properties and diversion of funds linked to major power projects, including the Zungeru and Mambilla hydroelectric initiatives.

The EFCC further disclosed in a statement on X that the court also entertained a consequential application seeking the forfeiture of five additional properties allegedly linked to the former minister in Abuja and Kaduna.
