Former President Goodluck Jonathan has been cleared by a Federal High Court in Abuja after lawyer Johnmary Jideobi filed a case against the former president to contest the 2027 presidential election.

The case was delivered by Justice Peter Lifu on Tuesday in Abuja, and a N20 million fine was imposed against Jideobi and a one million fine in favor of the Attorney-General of the Federation, whose name was mentioned in the petition.

The judge, who stated that a Federal High Court in Yenagoa and an Appeal Court had already held that Jonathan was eligible to run, said he was bound by the appellate court’s decision.

He then described the lawyer’s suit as “an abuse of court process” while dismissing it for being frivolous.
