No Plan to Abolish Sharia or Rename Nigeria – Tinubu

The presidency, through Bayo Onanuga, the spokesperson for President Bola Tinubu, has debunked claims that Nigeria will be renamed the United States of Nigeria and that Sharia law will be abolished.

Onanuga stated on Thursday that there was no intended plan by the president to carry out such a constitutional change; it was only fabricated by desperate politicians wanting to stir political crisis and disaffection across the country.

He also discredited an alleged amendment bill code-named “Project True Federation,” which was submitted to the National Assembly on December 15 before the 2027 election.
