Ozoro Youths Assault Women During Festival

Condemnations have followed the cultural festival celebration of the Ozoro community in the Isoko North LGA after young girls were reportedly assaulted and molested by irate youths on Thursday.

Culturally, girls and women are mandated to remain indoors during certain hours of the festival celebration, and notifications and sensitization were given ahead of the festival, but such guidance was not provided this year.

Some youths who rescued young girls have been calling on the Delta State government, Isoko North council chairman, Ozoro kingdom leaders, and security agencies to apprehend those found culpable.

Police spokesperson of Delta State, SP Edafe Bright, called the act barbaric and stated that CP Aina Adesola has ordered a full investigation while calling for calmness.
