In a bid to tackle terrorist groups like Boko Haram, the Islamic State in West Africa (ISWAP), and other Islamist militant groups, Nigeria, seeking help, has added 100 United States soldiers to assist in the combat.
The 100 US soldiers arrived in Nigeria solely to train the nation’s armed forces and help them with intelligence in their battle against the growing insurgencies.
According to Nigerian defense spokesperson Maj Gen Samaila Uba, the US troops and their equipment landed at Bauchi airfield.
The major stressed the fact that the US troops are not here to fight but are present at the government’s request, just like the first troops of soldiers already in the country.
