Following the allegations against the Chief Executive of the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority (NMDPRA), Farouk Ahmed, by billionaire entrepreneur Aliko Dangote for using millions of dollars to fund his children’s schooling abroad, Ahmed has denied a statement circulating online.
A viral statement claiming that the NMDPRA boss responded to the allegations of Dangote was false. He categorically disowned the publication, stressing that he had not issued any public response to the allegations.
“My attention has been drawn to a purported response I was said to have made on the recent allegations against my person. I hereby state categorically that the so-called statement did not emanate from me,” he said.
He explained that, as a regulator in a sensitive sector, he deliberately avoided public exchanges despite the controversy involving himself and his family, expressing relief that the matter had moved from public speculation to a formal institution, the ICPC, where he can clear his name.
