The Chairman of the Niger State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and Catholic Bishop of the Kontagora Diocese, Bulus Dauwa Yohanna, said that out of the 315 pupils and students abducted by bandit terrorists, 50 of them have regained their freedom between Friday and Saturday and have quietly reunited with their families.

The students and pupils of St. Mary’s Private Catholic Primary and Secondary Schools, Papiri, in Agwara Local Government Area of Niger State escaped from their abductors last Friday after the bandits took them from their hostels to an unknown destination.

On Sunday, Bishop Yohanna disclosed in a statement that the escaped students didn’t return to the school premises until officials contacted their parents to know their whereabouts.

According to Yohanna, there are 236 pupils, 3 staff children, and 14 secondary students, making a total of 253 children, including 12 members of staff still with the abductors
