Reason Why Prof. Amupitan Was Appointed INEC Chair—Presidency

Professor Joash Amupitan (SAN) has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission by President Bola Tinubu on the basis of neutrality, integrity, and an outstanding record of service.

‎This is according to President Tinubu in a statement on Thursday through his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. The Kogi-born professor has a track record of national service and will be the very first from his state to occupy such a sensitive position.

‎When the nomination was made at the State House, council members, comprising both serving and former leaders, supported the nomination of Professor Amupitan, succeeding Professor Mahmood Yakubu, and forwarded his name to the Senate for screening.
