Warri Road Now a Death Trap, IEPI Group

Post created on 4:18 pm

‎In commemoration of World Cleanup Day on Sunday, September 21, 2025, the Itsekiri Environmental Protection Initiative (IEPI) staged a peaceful protest calling on the government to fix the Ugbuwangue and Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) New Port, along the busy NPA Expressway in Warri.

‎The group warned about the dangers of the road to residents and the sudden death of one Miss Agirly Obinini, who was killed when a driver tried to dodge the waterlogged section of the road on September 15.

‎In a statement read by the Project Committee Chairman of IEPI, Bibi Oye stressed the importance of tackling the bad road menace, as cleanup is not just about picking up litter.

‎The group, therefore, called on the Delta State Government, the Federal Ministry of Works, the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), and the National Environmental Standards and Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) to immediately begin full repairs, install proper drainage, and commit to long-term maintenance.
