The Delta State Police Command is in pursuit of unknown gunmen who killed a police inspector, O.O. Ojonogba, attached to the council chairman of Bomadi LGA on August 25th.
The inspector was shot dead at the residence of the chairman in Ughelli, Ughelli North LGA, when he traveled to Asaba, leaving behind his children.
Eyewitness reports indicate that the officer, popularly known as Ade, was sleeping in his lounge at about 3-4 a.m. when the robbers shot him in the neck.
They broke through the generator powerhouse, and the chairman had traveled with three other members of his security team, leaving Officer Ade behind. After shooting him, the assailants later went through the back of the main house, where they destroyed one of the burglary protectors and entered through the dining section before proceeding to the children’s room.
At the children’s room, they fired shots at the PoP ceiling, demanding the chairman’s money and jewelry from their mother, collected phones and laptops, and ran off.
A report from PPRO, SP Edafe Bright, reveals that the command is after the killers of the officer.
