‎Delta State has been facing numerous security challenges for some time, and even the state capital is not exempt, with kidnappings and killings occurring in various places, especially in Okpanam and Issele-Azagba, where residents have fled their farms due to fear of being kidnapped.

‎The recent incident in the Okpanam community involves Mr. Samuel Okoro, a vigilante who was murdered by gunfire on Tuesday for trailing some kidnappers.

‎Some victims were preyed upon by these kidnappers on Sunday, but when Mr. Okoro noticed their activities, he quickly began trailing them into the bush.

‎Unknown to the vigilante, the kidnappers had already realized they were being followed, which led to the gunfire that resulted in his death.

‎Following the death of the vigilante, the state Police PRO, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed the incident and sent his condolences while admonishing other vigilantes to always call for police assistance.
