In line with the Oyo State Dog Law of 2019, owners of dogs and cats in the state have been told by the State government to vaccinate their animals yearly to fight against the infectious spread of rabies diseases in the state.
The mandate was reeled out by the state government through the Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Olaleye Olasunkanmi, in Ibadan, as pet vaccination will drastically reduce the spread of disease from animals to humans.
Dog and cat owners who are yet to visit veterinary clinics are urged to do so to prevent the spreading of different kinds of diseases to humans.
The commissioner also hinted that no dog or cat should be seen roaming the street, and failure to vaccinate animals will attract a fine of N250,000, six months imprisonment, or both for offenders found wanting.
