Following the runway skid of Dana aircraft on April 23 which led to its suspension by the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority on April 24, 2024, to carry out extensive auditing of the company, some staff of the Airlines who were laid off have protested their unpaid salaries.

More than 100 former employees of the Airline stormed the head office of the Dana demanding outstanding pensions, and unpaid salaries, amongst others with various placards displaying their displeasure.

A former Training and Cabin Services Manager, Mrs Magdalene Onyeukwu who has been with the airline since 2008 was venting her anger to newsmen, that they were just sacked with no consideration from the management.

She said that her years with Dana have been from the Demo flight that got them the AOC, Air Operator Certificate and even in the face of challenges where salaries were unpaid she was dedicated not until April 23 when the incident happened at the runway and they were sent WhatsApp messages of service disengagement.

Calling the Chief Executive Officer of Dana Air, Mr Jacky Hathiramani, to come to address their grief, the workers want their April one-month salary paid.

Reports say the management officials of Dana Air are yet to comment on the issue.
