The back-and-forth negotiations between the Organized Labour and the Federal government over the new Minimum Wage seem not to be getting any light.

Recalled that the Federal Government had proposed N48,000 which was raised to N54,000 and finally to N60,000 yesterday which the NLC and TUC also rejected.

The president of NLC, Joe Ajearo has said the government is not showing any interest in the welfare of the Nigerian workers despite the economic situation ravaging the country.

However, in a statement on Wednesday after another dead-end meeting with FG and Labour, the Minister of Labour, Mrs Nkeiruka Onyejeocha is pleading with the TUC and NLC to be considerate in their demand.

Speaking through Mr Olajide Oshundun, Director of Press and Public Relations in the ministry, Onyejeocha noted that steps were been taken to see a good minimum wage for the Nigeria worker but Labour should also consider the nation’s economy which is on a path of recovery from the pandemic and other factors.
