INEC Orders Neutrality Ahead of 2027 Polls, Sets Oct 9 for PVC Collection

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has directed its field officers and administrative staff across the country to eliminate operational vulnerabilities and enforce strict political neutrality as organizational preparations accelerate for the 2027 general elections.

INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, issued the charge on Monday in Kaduna during the North-West Zonal Interactive Meeting with Staff and Readiness Assessment for the 2027 General Election.

Addressing electoral officers, Amupitan emphasized that public confidence in the electoral process depends on the professional integrity and impartiality of commission personnel. He tasked staff to address administrative bottlenecks in logistics, voter registration, and data management to ensure seamless election delivery.

In a related development, the Commission announced that the collection of Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) for newly registered voters and those who applied for transfers or replacements will officially commence nationwide on October 9.

INEC urged registered citizens to visit designated collection centers within their local government areas upon commencement to obtain their cards ahead of upcoming electoral activities.
