Zinedine Zidane, Real Madrid’s coach, has decided to leave the Spanish club. Zidane, in his second spell at the club, saw his side come up just short in LaLiga this season, with Atlético Madrid holding on to win the title on the last day with a victory over Real Valladolid.

The news was broken by Fabrizio Romano on Wednesday evening.

“Exclusive. Zinedine Zidane has decided to LEAVE Real Madrid with immediate effect,” his tweet read.

“Zinedine Zidane has communicated tonight to people who work around him and players that he’s 100% leaving Real Madrid. Confirmed,” another tweet from Romano read.

“Zidane will speak with Florentino Perez and announce his decision officially in the next hours but he’s leaving. It’s over.”

To officially confirm the news, the Spanish club issued a communication on Thursday morning local time via its official twitter handle @realmadrid.

Zidane in his two spells as Real Madrid manager  won 11 trophies, including two La Liga title and three Champions League triumphs.
