JAMB Issues Advisory on UTME, O’Level Subject Combination Rules

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has issued an operational guide for candidates seeking admission into tertiary institutions, explaining how to verify approved O’Level and Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) subject combinations for their chosen courses.
The board warned that scoring high marks in the UTME and securing strong O’Level grades do not automatically guarantee admission eligibility if a candidate selects incorrect subject combinations.
In an advisory published through its JAMB Explained digital platform on Friday, the board emphasized that tertiary institutions enforce specific faculty and department subject prerequisites that candidates must satisfy.
JAMB urged prospective students to cross-check program requirements against official matriculation guidelines before submitting course choices or applying for program modifications.
