2027 Election: Obi Support Groups Clash Over Internal Distractions

Fresh internal friction has surfaced within the coalition supporting Peter Obi’s 2027 presidential ambition, following accusations by the United Kingdom Coordinator of the OK Movement, Adebayo Brown, targeting key campaign figures over public disputes.

Brown accused leaders of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Presidential Campaign Council and the Obidient Movement—including Obidient Coordinator Dr. Moses Paul—of fuelling unnecessary divisions among supporters rather than building grassroots structures.

The dispute erupted over repeated assertions that Obi and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, had dissociated themselves from the OK Movement. Brown rejected the claims, asserting that neither Obi nor Kwankwaso had issued such a directive and that no single group could unilaterally speak for the political leaders.

In a formal statement released on Tuesday, Brown urged Paul and NDC leadership to stop public squabbling, focus on strengthening voter mobilization, and work towards building a unified front ahead of the 2027 general elections.

“The OK Movement and the Obidient Movement are not enemies, nor are we in conflict with the NDC,” Brown stated. “We face a common democratic challenge ahead, and our priority must remain mobilizing Nigerians, strengthening political structures, and ensuring credible elections in 2027.”
