Gov Oborevwori Inspects Facilities for New Army Air Defence Unit in Delta

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has inspected facilities and ongoing works for the establishment of the Air Defence Regiment of the 83 Division, Nigerian Army, ahead of the deployment of military personnel to the state.
Accompanied by the Chief of Standards and Evaluation (Army), Major General Thompson Ugiagbe, and Commander of the 63 Brigade, Brigadier General Ibrahim Buhari, Governor Oborevwori stated that the new military formation will bolster regional security and protect critical national infrastructure.
Governor Oborevwori disclosed that an initial batch of 300 to 400 military personnel is scheduled to arrive in Delta State within weeks. He noted that the state government has secured land and temporary facilities for the unit while plans for its permanent headquarters are being finalized.
To ensure prompt operational readiness, the governor directed the State Commissioners for Housing and Lands to assess the temporary site and evaluate structural requirements. Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inter-agency cooperation, Oborevwori emphasized that robust security measures remain vital to protecting lives, property, and economic assets across the state.
